Holistic Counselling and Astrology: Weavings of an Armchair Astrologer
Each team member at The Witch’s Therapist comes from a different therapeutic background.
We practice different modalities.
Each of us has a different area of therapeutic focus.
But we all value collective healing as an important part of our work here at our spiritual therapy collective.
In fact, it’s core to each of our practices.
I’m Megan Woods, a registered psychotherapist with a deep interest in blending holistic counselling and astrology.
Astrology can be used as a language of meaning, helping us understand the world and our place in it.
With that in mind, and considering the psychological nature of Scoripio, I thought I’d share some musings about the direction of collective healing as I see it on this week’s blog.
Let’s take a look.
A Holistic Lens on Growth, Change, and Becoming
We’re preparing for a radical shift in the astrology in 2026.
With that in mind, I find it an opportune time to convene with the growth and learnings of the previous cycle.
For the sake of simplicity and also in honour of the most influential players, I invite us to presence the impact of a few areas in particular.
These include:
Pluto in tropical Capricorn (~2008-2024)
Neptune in Pisces (~2012-2025)
Uranus in Taurus (~2018-2025)
Goddess knows we’re all deeply impacted and aware of the more troublesome influences.
So in the spirit of brevity and levity, I will keep it light and focus on the positive gifts of these transits.
Planetary Cycles and the Shape of Human Experience
Pluto in Capricorn brought us the need to do deep root work around our self-parenting and what it means to be a healthy adult.
We saw the rise of the influencer telling us how to run and structure our lives.
We’ve had to confront where we give up our inner authority to others.
Psychological frameworks like internal family systems therapy (IFS) rose to prominence around this time.

This is quite a literal symbolic representation of the archetypes of Pluto (inner work) and Saturn (family).
You may also have heard expressions such as “self-parenting”, “deconditioning”, and “inner child”.

These and many others evoke the Capricorn/Cancer axis which was so highly emphasized for a full 16 years.
That TikTok video on how to manage your ADHD, or how to leave a narcissistic lover?
Pluto in Capricorn was the catalyst to spreading psychological concepts to the masses.
Spirituality and Psychotherapy
Neptune in Pisces dissolved the barrier between the field of psychology and spirituality to an unprecedented level.
Buddhist practices and Eastern philosophies have been practiced for millennia.
But Neptune in Pisces has helped these concepts to gain credibility in the field of psychotherapy in the rest of the world as well.
Mindfulness therapy, compassion-focused therapy, and more are now a regular part of the conversation.
The accessibility of psychedelic-assisted therapies truly captures the work of Neptune in Pisces, including the rise of micro-dosing and Ayahuasca retreats.
As a team member of The Witch’s Therapist, I can truly say that Neptune has paved the way for those of us who cannot divorce the spiritual from the psychological.
Collective Transits and the Nervous System
Uranus in Taurus highlighted the importance of the nervous system, somatic experiencing and embodiment practice.
I find that many practitioners of psychotherapy and counselling now recognize and implement body-based healing techniques and inquiry into what used to be thought of as purely psychological “mind stuff.”
There is now consensus and mainstream recognition of the relevance of our animal instincts to fight/flight/flee/fawn.
This has helped immensely in liberating victims of trauma and abuse.
We now know that we are more than just our thoughts.
Without awareness of our need to feel a sense of safety, we run the risk of gaslighting and dismissing the actions of those seeking connection and repair within relationships.
Finding Meaning in Uncertain Times
In 2026, these outer planets will all be officially in fire and air, no longer set to retrograde back to these themes.
Pluto is already in Aquarius, but will now be sextile to Neptune in Aries and trine to Uranus in Gemini.
I’m looking forward to seeing how the practice of psychotherapy will continue to evolve with the times.
For 2026, I’m predicting a shift in the direction of helping clients to connect to their unique individual self and their role in the collective.
In particular, this will include:
How to navigate friendship and community conflict
Self-agency and stepping out of drama into creativity
The importance of self-honesty and authenticity
Integrating the inner lover and deepening our understanding of how to be in the right relationship
A hope for the future of psychology and what is needed for us to show up as better, kinder, and more loving humans on this planet
