August News from The Witch’s Therapist
Hi witches,
It’s Maggie writing to you under this new moon to share some reflections, as well as a very special dream I have been tending to for quite some time that is now coming to fruition. So grab a cup of tea and let’s dive in!
Exploring the Tension
Can you feel the tension? The tension between our personal desires and societal expectations? Between our own needs and that of our communities? Between fear of being hurt and yearning to be seen? What does tension feel like in your body? A tightness in your chest? A heat in your hands, pressure between the eyes, heaviness in your shoulders?
I can feel resistance in my body. A desire to stay small and a calling to stand up. That resistance makes sense to me. We have all worked so hard to get to where we are in life. In a lot of ways, we feel done. Done working for systems that don’t work. Done with the violence of everyday existence. Done using our energy for the benefit of a few who care nothing about the whole. My body remembers the pain of working too hard, too fast, too much, for way too little and it fears that will happen again.
But what if something different were possible, I ask myself. What if we had the courage to feel into that tension, to explore it, to be informed by it and to heed the needs it shares? That tension reminds me of what happens when I try to do everything without help. What if this time I asked for help? I can feel the tension soften a little. That tension reminds me of how hard I pushed myself in the past. What if this time I rested more? I feel the tension soften a little. That tension shares with me how it exists to protect me from my own self-criticism, self-policing. What if this time I engaged in self-compassion and small moments of self-expression? I can feel the tension begin to melt away.
What happens for you, as you get curious about the tension in your body? What needs does it express?
I’ve been paying a lot of attention to my body and the many many somatic sensations it shares with me. Like many bodies impacted by capitalism, it isn’t an easy body to be in. It shares pains with me on the daily; it has its own demands of me. It also gets me to work, allows me to practice my cello, to walk my dogs, to dance ecstatically, to consume delicious ice cream. I know I feel frustrated at times and, at least in this moment, I feel compassion towards my body and all its efforts.
What has your body allowed you to do?
Introducing The Witch’s Cottage
So why all the tension you might ask? Well, there is some fantastic news I have to share with you: we have finally found a physical home! The Witch’s Therapist will be opening The Witch’s Cottage on September 1st, 2025 in beautiful, historic Woodfield, a neighbourhood just north of downtown London, Ontario. I am scared, excited, nervous, and hopeful. It will be a lot of work and I also have grown enough to reassure my body that I am not doing this alone.
I’ve been dreaming up some version of The Witch’s Cottage for years - when I was a teen I wanted to open up a mental health center called Monster Hospital. As a young adult, I hoped to open a holistic center focused on mental health, nutrition and plant medicine. And now, here we are, years later, opening up a community center that honors both.
The Witch’s Cottage will be located at 609 William Street. At present, the space will house our therapists but overtime, I hope it will grow to include other holistic practitioners. The space has a large communal kitchen where community members can share their knowledge of plants, foraging, canning, tinctures, and more. I dream of communal dinners: yule celebrations and dumb suppers to honour our ancestors. It also has a small ritual space, where we hope to run new moon and full moon circles, integration and process groups, mental health and relationship skills building workshops and more.
This space wouldn’t have been possible without the help of many community members AND it can’t exist or grow without you either. Perhaps you are already supporting us as a client, perhaps you are community members eager to teach, perhaps you have more food than you know what to do with and want to donate to our communal fridge (zucchinis anyone?!), or you long for something and wish to share that longing with us. Whatever it is, we invite you to connect by responding to this email! We will be connecting with various community members over the next two months in hopes of growing our calendar of events. We cannot wait to be in community with you.

We're welcoming Tammy Lynne to our team! She is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). Rooted in Celtic, Druid, and Pagan lineage, the call to healing has guided Tammy since childhood and ultimately this path led to her training as a psychotherapist. Her approach blends Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Brainspotting, dreamwork, and land-based healing—grounded in a Jungian lens and spirit-led wisdom. Tammy is currently accepting new clients. You can email us or click here to book a free, 15-minute consultation with her. Want to meet Tammy first? She will be hosting a full moon circle on August 8 in London, ON. You can find the details below.
The Inward Path, is a psychedelic healing retreat being co-faciliated by Maggie. This community based offering is happening October 21-25th. Over 5 days, you'll be guided through safe and powerful ways to re-connect with yourself, spirit, community and more. Many of us are helpers, healers and caregivers and during these difficult times it's so vital we make space for ourselves so that we can continue to show up. Here is hoping you'll join us on The Inward Path. Learn more.

The gathering will be very “why, how, what”—a true primer on the nature of the work, what you stand to gain if you venture in, what’s required of you, and how it’s different (or not) from what you think it is.
August 2
Lammas Sabaat & Potluck
Toronto, ON
Join the New Wiccan Church - Canada (Toronto) in celebrating Lammas Sabbat with a ritual and pot luck feast. You're invited to bring food and/or drink to share. While this work contains therapeutic elements, it is not considered psychotherapy. $30, sliding scale avaliable. Reply to this email to register.
As we become more aware of events, I will continue to post them on Instagram so please give us a follow.
And of course, we'd love to hear from you! So if you'd like to reply to this e-mail with thoughts on your favourite books and teas, the activism you're engaging in, or to let us know about an aligned spiritual event in Ontario, we would love that.
